In the Community

  • Ursinus is one of 18 residential sites across the United States hosting the  prestigious Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth (CTY). More than 460 young students and 75 staff and instructors from all across the globe come to Collegeville for the program. CTY is widely recognized as the global leader in academically  gifted and talented education.
  • In August 2019, UCARE hosted  the college’s annual service day for incoming  first-year students. UCARE has 35 ongoing partnerships with nonprofit  organizations in the community, and 20 of those partnerships involve consistent, weekly volunteer service by students.
  • More than 1,200 of our Collegeville neighbors come to campus each summer for our “Movies on the Lawn” series, held in partnership with the Collegeville  Economic Development Corporation. This popular family event laid the  groundwork for even more robust community programming this summer, including 150 Fest, which was held on September 1 and kicked off a year of celebrating the college’s sesquicentennial.
  • Ursinus students participated in nearly 23,000 recorded service hours in the 2018-19 academic year.
  • 65% of Ursinus students are involved with community service, which is higher than the rate of engagement for our peer institutions.
  • 720 students are involved in service leadership programs through the Melrose Center for Global Civic Engagement, which has 35 nonprofit partnerships with organizations for service opportunities.
