2020 Health Insurance Transition

Happy New Year! Welcome back to everyone and I hope you had a wonderful winter break! Since it is the beginning of a new calendar year and we now have a new health insurance carrier, this is information that may help you as you transition from our old carrier, United Healthcare to our new carrier, Independence Blue Cross.

New ID Cards

Employees who enrolled in a health plan during open enrollment, should have received a new ID card in the mail by now. Blue Cross mailed all cards in late December to home addresses. You should have also received individual ID cards for each member of your family if you enrolled in coverage that includes dependents. If you have not received your new card or a card for family member(s) in the mail, please contact us as soon as possible.

New Portal

You should now register on the Independence Blue Cross portal: You will need your member ID number or social security number to set up your account. Once you are set up in the portal, you will be able to access all of your medical information including, claims processing, deductible balances, explanation of benefits, the wellness profile, looking up providers and using the cost estimator for services

For 2019 claims

  • For those who have outstanding claims from 2019 with United Healthcare, you should continue to let your providers send the claims to United Healthcare so that it can be applied to your deductible or copays in accordance with the plan.
  • For those who were in the Health Reimbursement Arrangement (HRA) segment of your deductible for 2019 and still have outstanding claims that will need to get applied to the HRA, please click here for directions on how to submit these claims to the Harrison Group. DO NOT give your current HRA/HSA card to providers for any claims that you want to apply to the HRA for services rendered in 2019. You will have until 3/30/2020 to get all claims processed through the HRA for 2019 with the Harrison Group.

For 2020 claims

You may use your current HRA/HSA card for claims incurred in 2020. Until you reach the first half of your annual deductible ($1500 for single, $3000 for family), the charges will get applied to your Health Savings Account (HSA). Once you meet the first half of your deductible, you will need to trigger the HRA with the Harrison Group for future 2020 claims.

Wellness Requirement for 2020

You should complete the wellness profile on this portal by March 31, 2020. This will satisfy the requirement of completing a health risk assessment with our carrier to qualify for the wellness funding in either June or December.

If you have any questions during this transition period, please contact us at extension 3073 or contact Kistler Tiffany Benefits directly at 1-866-KTB-SERV (1-866-582-7378) and hit prompt #1.

Wishing everyone a healthy and happy 2020!
