Amanda Galczyk wins Lawrence Lange Award!

This award is presented annually by the Education Department to “the graduating senior who best exemplifies outstanding work in the field of education and is committed to nurturing the lifelong learning of others through a career in teaching.”

The Award was established in honor of Jan Lawrence Lange, Dean of Continuing Education and Associate Dean of the College (1995-2003) upon her retirement in January, 2003.

Amanda has shown an outstanding commitment to education, doing excellent work in a variety of classes and above all in taking questions that arose in those classes and pursuing them with dedication, thoughtfulness, and rigor in her honors research. It has been exciting to watch her development and as a result she has earned this well-deserved award!

The Lange award comes with a check, a certificate, and a prize book. The book chosen for Amanda was What is College For: The Public Purpose of Higher Education, a collection of essays.

Congratulations! We are so proud of you!
