Every student was called out by name with a short “tweet” from a faculty member of a fun shout out, a wish for their future, or other memory of their time at Ursinus. Each student was mailed a Ursinus Biology Class of 2020 water bottle in advance and the ceremony ended with a group toast. Dr. Kate Goddard offered the following toast:
Dear Class of 2020:
We raise our glasses to you! As Maya Angelou once said:
“You may encounter many defeats, but you must not be defeated. In fact, it may be necessary to encounter the defeats, so you can know who you are, what you can rise from, how you can still come out of it.”
Think back to what you have achieved…
- You did not give up when you were insulted by all of the edits on your first draft of your first CIE paper.
- That first BIO201 exam made you work even harder.
- You have shown resilience, empathy and sympathy for others, determination and good humor in completing this most challenging semester, the spring of 2020.
We will remember you, we will miss you, we want to hear from you, and we will never forget you, Class of 2020.
Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened.
HERES TO THE BIOLOGY GRADUATES OF URSINUS COLLEGE, CLASS OF 2020!
