Dr. Rebecca Lyczak Receives Grant Renewal from NIH to Fund Collaborative Research with Students
Receiving a grant to fund research is not an easy task. However, Dr. Rebecca Lyczak makes it seem that way as the Biology Department celebrates the renewal of her grant from the National Institutes of Health. Dr. Lyczak is the Biology Department chair and teaches a multitude of courses here at Ursinus. The is grant amount awarded is $407, 833.00 specifically titled, “The role of PAM-1 in the regulation of the cell cycle and polarity establishment in C. elegans.” Not only will this cover research expenses over the next three years, but it “will fund two summer research students per year and one FUTURE student researcher”, shared Dr. Lyczak. The grant will also provide the research students Dr. Lyczak has with more opportunities to travel to present their work at conferences. With this grant Dr. Lyczak will be able to further her discoveries in her research and allow students to be a part of the exploration.
