HEP Professor Attends AACU Meeting as an Invited Panelist

Dr. Catherine van de Ruit was an invited panelist at The American Association of Colleges and Universities (AAC&U) annual conference, on January 20, 2022, in Washington D.C. showcasing the kind of projects Periclean Faculty Leaders (PFLs) leaders undertake with support of the Pericles Foundation funded by The Arthur Vining Davis Foundations and The Eugene M. Lang Foundation.

Project Pericles is a not-for-profit organization that encourages and facilitates commitments by colleges and universities to include social responsibility and participatory citizenship as essential elements of their educational programs.

As a Periclean Faculty Leader, Dr. Catherine van de Ruit was an invited Panelists at the recent AAC&U annual meeting. Dr. van de Ruit’s talk, titled “Seeking human connection: a case study of a remote experiential learning STEM health course taught during COVID 19”  was coauthored with Katie Turek and was derived from teaching the Community Health Capstone (HEP 447).

Project Pericles works with faculty and community partners to educate students to be lifelong civic leaders. The projects enable students to apply academic content to help solve real-world concerns raised by community partners, and campuses develop meaningful collaborations.
