Field trip to the National Constitution Center
In fall of 2014, students enrolled in American Studies 200E: Emancipation read narratives of people who escaped from slavery, read historical analyses of slavery, viewed 12 Years a Slave, and learned the advatages of history on film as well as written history.
As part of our studies, the class trekked to Philadelphia to view the Monticello exhibit at the National Constitution Center, where the stories of six families enslaved by Thomas Jefferson were told through artifacts and documents.
