Jeison Aristizábal

We’d like to highlight Jeison Aristizábal from Cali, Colombia. Aristizábal was awarded CNN’s Hero of the Year award in 2016 for his non-profit ASODISVALLE (Association of Disabled People of the Valley). Aristizábal’s organization provides free schooling, medical care, physical/occupational therapy, food, career preparation, and more to children and families who are navigating disabilities in Colombia. Aristizábal has cerebral palsy, and he realized that many families did not have access to the range of supports that they needed. And thus began his incredibly important work in not only supporting those with disabilities but advocating to combat stigma.
