Philadelphia Deputy Health Commissioner Speaks with Health in the City Class
Public Health is a broad topic, which encompasses patient health, health organizations, health professions, and public policies. Recently, students in the Health in the City (HEP-203) class taught by Dr. Catherine van de Ruit, spoke with Dr. Raval-Nelson, the Deputy Health Commissioner of the Philadelphia Department of Public Health to gain insight on the current challenges and opportunities for improving population health in Philadelphia. In addition, the Deputy Health Commissioner addressed students inquiries on various careers in Public Health.
Dr. Raval-Nelson’s visit was very meaningful for the class and represents a sample of the types of interactions that are possible for students enrolled in Health in the City (HEP-203), a class offered within The Philadelphia Experience program at Ursinus.
