Mallory Alfieri wins “Love of Learning” award!

Mallory Alfieri, winner of the education department’s Love of Learning award, was an unlikely candidate for college, as she was not interested in attending classes in high school. “I never went to school,” she said. Learning this was a surprise to department faculty, because she chose to study schools through her major in educational studies, and she quickly demonstrated herself as a committed student. “Mallory has all of the qualities one would want in a student—she’s insightful, curious, organized, and charitable,” Professor Seamus Mulryan said. Mallory will continue her intellectual growth and commitment to improving the lives of students by pursuing a Master of Science degree in school counselling at Chestnut Hill College starting this fall.

The Love of Learning Award is given to a graduating educational studies major who has demonstrated consistent and significant intellectual growth, excellenct character, and a commitment to life-long learning. Congratulations, Mallory!
