LitSoc & the Library Present a Literary Salon
On Tuesday, December 5th, the usually quiet main floor of Myrin Library was transformed into a lively literary salon featuring four Ursinus authors and several student creative writers. Librarian of the College Diane Skorina teamed up with LitSoc President Zach Devita-Paulson to host this event that brought faculty and students together outside of the classroom to share their work in a supportive and creative setting.
Longtime professor Jon Volkmer, alum and professor Shane Kowalski and the Creative Writing Department’s newest faculty member, poet Katie Henson, along with the Director of the Center for Writing and Speaking Talia Argondezzi, came together to read from recently published works for the first hour of the event, and then answered questions from the students. After a short break, students from LitSoc read from their works in progress. The short stories, poems, novel excerpts, and humor essays ran the gamut from the soberly serious to the riotously funny.
We can’t wait to team up with LitSoc again in the near future to bring together authors from all departments to share their work and hear what the students are doing!
