Artist Visits Myrin Library
Jason Urban, an artist, writer and teacher living and working in Austin,Texas visited the Myrin Library recently to view items in the Library’s Special Collections.
Mr. Urban, who teaches Printmaking and Foundations of Art courses at the University of Texas, Austin, Department of Art and Art History, was interested in viewing printed copies of the journal The Pennsylvania Dutchman held in the Library’s Pennsylvania Folklife Collection.
Prior to his visit, Mr. Urban had remotely studied digitized issues of this journal available in the Library’s Special Collections section of the College’s Digital Commons.
Inspired by viewing the digitized issues, Mr. Urban requested an appointment to consult the journal in the original, printed version, of which the Library has a complete run, thus becoming the first scholar to visit the Myrin Library after remotely locating and viewing our digitized collections in the Digital Commons,
Upon completion of Mr. Urban’s art project, we will update this story.
