During his senior year, Matt was accepted into the highly competitive Teach For America (TFA) program and placed at Holly Springs High School in northern Mississippi, where he served as an inclusion teacher in history classes, co-teaching with the regular classroom teacher and working with individual students on reading comprehension.
Impact of Ursinus
I wanted to say one more time that Ursinus prepared me very well for the rigorous training period and first few weeks of summer school and professional development. The theory I developed has helped me write good lesson plans that I know inspired learning (my summer school History class had the highest growth in the Eastern TFA region!) While the curriculum is far more test-oriented than I am used to, I know that I will be able to help a lot of students and very inexperienced teachers, thanks to the hard work you and the other Education Department professors put in.
