Modern Languages

All Majors & Minors

Amanda Steyaert

Why did you decide to become a language major?

I decided to become a Spanish major because I want to help to support the Spanish community here in the US. My goal as a Spanish major is to be able to teach both Spanish English to non-native speakers and to help Spanish speakers better adapt and live comfortable lives as American citizens.

What has been your most rewarding experience in your language major so far?

My favorite part of being a part of the Spanish program here at Ursinus is being able to use the Spanish I learn in supporting and bringing together members of the Spanish community in the surrounding area through the volunteer program provided by the Modern Languages Department.

What are your plans after Ursinus?

After I graduate Ursinus I plan to acquire a job as a Spanish to English translator and obtain a Masters degree as well as a Teaching Certificate in order to teach Spanish and English on a professional level.
