Impact of Ursinus
Ursinus has impacted my life professionally and personally. I met my wife, Marina Torres Peele ’06, while attending Ursinus (yup, part of that great statistic). Secondly, my time as a tour guide & admission fellow helped me find my first job(s) right out of school, working in higher education at the university level.
Today, I look back on my experience at Ursinus, and the freedom that I had to explore my major in Psychology from an organizational and business standpoint, and see it has influenced my entrepreneurial spirit. Now I run on my own men’s style and lifestyle site, Men’s Style Pro. With the networking skills I learned at UC, I’ve been able to create relationships and work with brands like GQ (I’m featured in the December issue), Century 21 stores, designed my own custom shoe & suits and been featured in a national campaign for Johnston & Murphy.
What is your favorite Ursinus memory?
One of my favorite educational memories about Ursinus was from my Human Resources Management class. Every week we would give an elevator speech about a random “thing”. The top elevator speeches would receive extra credit on the upcoming exam. That skill of learning an elevator speech is critical when I have to introduce a new campaign to a brand or tell people what I do for a living as a men’s style consultant.
Why I Support UC
Supporting UC was a no-brainer for me because the support I received helped me participate in so many activities that shaped my life. Understanding that a simple donation can help a student have a few extra dollars in Ursinus scholarship support makes it easier to give.
Why should alumni, parents, faculty and staff make a gift to Ursinus?
We donate to so many causes these days, but donating to furthering the minds of future leaders, scientists, and entrepreneurs from Ursinus is a very worthy cause. Making the investment in not just the student body, but, an institution that puts learning and students first, is what giving back is all about.
