The Center for International Programs is looking for three dynamic, energetic, creative and resourceful students to work as program assistants for the 46th annual American Studies Program with our sister school Tohoku Gakuin University in Japan. *This is a one-week position from August 5-13 (not an ongoing position during the academic year)*. Fifteen students and two faculty/staff leaders will visit the Ursinus campus for one week of classes and residence. Interested students must apply online by April 27. Interviews will be conducted the week of April 30-May 4. Please note that for the purpose of these positions, campus housing will only be provided from August 5 to 13, 2018, so applicants must plan accordingly.
Student assistants must arrive on campus on August 5 to prepare dorm rooms, kitchen and common areas for our visitors. Throughout the week assistants plan and execute a complete program of activities, including informal English conversation, social activities, field trips, etc. They also trouble-shoot, run errands both on and off campus, and assistant with morning and evening meals and clean-up. A day-trip to Philadelphia is included on Saturday, August 11. Assistants are considered on-call full-time and must be committed to remaining on campus the entire week. Assistants will also be expected to help clean up the dorm rooms and common areas at the end of the program on Aug. 13. The position carries a compensation of $650 and includes and requires residence in the dorm for the week and attendance at all group meals. All but three meals will be provided to assistants. Candidates holding a valid driver’s license and certification to drive the College van are preferred. Deadline to apply: Friday, April 27, 2018. No Japanese language or study abroad experience is necessary, but it could come in handy!
