I’ve done two years of research with Dr. Jennifer Stevenson, both NEUR (2013/14) and PSYC (2014/15) research. We investigate problem solving skills in adolescents diagnosed on the Autism Spectrum through tracking their eye-movements.
What Was Valuable About the Experience
Learning what is expected and how to act in the professional world. Gaining this insight has been invaluable and has prepared me for post-graduation work.
The Coolest Part of the Experience
Getting hands on experience with participant based research. Just interacting with participants and physically conducting the research was awesome. Because I stuck with the group for two years I was able to see every step of the process from requesting IRB approval, screening participants, analyzing data, and presenting these results at various conferences around the Philadelphia area. It really makes you appreciate what other researchers are doing in every field and the type of dedication required to follow these inquiries to the end.
