James Kenney earned a B.M. and M.M. from Temple University in Classical Guitar Performance. While pursuing his degrees, Mr. Kenney studied privately with Allen Krantz, the late Peter Segal and Ricardo Cobo. Mr. Kenney has taught Music History, Music Theory and Classical Guitar for over fifteen years and currently holds positions at Neumann University, Swarthmore College and Ursinus College. James Kenney has performed throughout America’s East Coast, performing solo concerts, as well as ensemble performances, for the Ethical Society of Philadelphia, Amnesty International, and Philadelphia’s Classical Guitar Society. Mr. Kenney has also pursued the study of Early Music, studying and playing lutes from the Renaissance and Baroque periods. He has participated with Early Music ensembles from West Chester University, as well as Temple University. Mr. Kenney is still an active freelance musician in and out of the Philadelphia area. Mr. Kenney plays a 1995 Millennium made by the late Thomas Humphrey, and a Paulo Carmo spruce top guitar.
