Overview

My internship experience included working for the testing department at Comcast. The team that I worked with mainly worked on testing the current and future generations of set-top boxes. This included working with an off-shore team to create testing environments to properly test each portion of the set-top box. My main project was working on software that automated 50% of the testing for the testing group.

Skills Utilized

  • Coding
  • Creating user guides
  • Mathematical analytics

Future Implications

This internship was a great opportunity. It really opened my eyes to the amount of testing that is required before a product is released. My experience coding, working with an off-shore team, and contributing to the team will be invaluable to my future.

The Coolest Part of the Experience

The coolest part of my internship experience was walking around the innovation labs at Comcast headquarters. These labs feature the latest technology and give one a sneak-peak of what will be coming out in the next five years. This made me very excited for the future of technology and all it has to offer.

Advice

My biggest advice to interns is keep an open mind. Every office setting is different and it is hard to adjust to the working schedule. However, it will not take too long to adjust. Another piece of advice that I have is to focus on the quality of your work rather than the rate at which it is produced. Sometimes there is pressure to produce work as quickly as possible but it is still very important to focus on the quality of your work. The quality of your work is a direct reflection of you as a worker.
