Why did you decide to become a language major?

I grew up taking french in school and i always loved the language. I also vacationed in France a few times with my family and i fell in love with the culture too. Since then, i made it my goal to be able to hold a conversation with a french speaking person. Travelling abroad the summer before my senior year, I realized i accomplished this goal.

What has been your most rewarding experience in your language major so far?

Studying abroad was the best decision i have made at Ursinus. As a double French and Biology major, i thought it would be difficult to find a program that would fit both of these requirements but the Program “France for the Pre-Med” in Nice had the french culture and language aspect with the medical aspect as well. I took two classes on the French medical system and public health system, shadowed in a NICU and was able to spend my evenings and weekends exploring the beautiful town of Nice and neighboring countries including Monaco. It was incredible!

What are your plans after Ursinus?

My long term goals are to become a pediatrician and participate in a program (for example: Doctors without Borders) and help children in a french speaking third world country.
