Most Memorable Moment in Class
Vehemently debating Capitalism versus Communism with my CIE 200 professor, Dr. Clark, after reading Marx’s Communist Manifesto.
Did CIE help you form personal connections on campus?
CIE helped me form connections with not only other students from a variety of different disciplines and interests, but also campus professors. Each of my professors, Dr. Stephanie Mackler and Dr. Jon Clark helped me to tremendously improve my writing, strengthen argument formation, and refine critical thinking skills. Both professors are from outside of my chosen major, so through CIE they have shared knowledge with me that I otherwise would not have been given the opportunity to acquire.
How did CIE change or challenge your view on something?
CIE challenged perceptions and ideals that I never thought to question – most strikingly, a newfound awareness of social disparities. Opening this door, I found a home for my career goals, focusing on Public Health and repairing inequities that can be present within the health system.
What you really need to know about CIE…
What you take from CIE and its content is ultimately in your control – the more you put in, the more you will get out.
What CIE will do for you?
Serve as reminder to be constantly questioning and thoughtful throughout this lifetime full of learning.
