Sophia enjoys participating in a variety of activities on and off campus, and when she’s not studying in her room or meeting with a club, she’s usually going for a run on the Perkiomen trail nearby campus. Besides singing and dancing in Rhapsody Show Choir, Sophia loves volunteering at ACLAMO, an after-school program in Norristown, where she tutors Hispanic immigrant kids alongside other Ursinus students passionate about community service and outreach. As Secretary for the Ursinus UNICEF club, she works with her fellow club members to raise awareness and funds for health services, educational opportunities, and basic daily needs for kids in third-world countries. Her favorite part of Ursinus is how she can learn about and contribute to the community in and outside of the classroom while surrounded by compassionate, fun-loving Ursinus students.

Why Did You Join

In high school, I loved singing and dancing in my show choir. I knew I wanted to find another group of people who shared my love of performing feel-good songs to audiences who want to embrace the excitement and joy that song and dance can bring. Music is not just something I use to motivate myself to work hard in the gym or relax when I’m feeling stressed. It’s a part of my life that makes me want to jump up and dance and sing no matter where I am. Show choir is the best place to do that.
