I am a one-woman idea generator who just happens to be a part of the Innovation Partnership team at Under Armour. Creativity comes naturally here. I help execute Future Show, our annual innovation challenge, and I oversee our website, ideahouse.ua.com. My job is to seek out the game-changers and prototype-makers—you know, people who dare to think big, but need some big brand power to help get their product all over the world. I help them navigate their entrepreneurial journey … much like Ursinus did for me!
Innovation was all around me at Ursinus. It was evident with a friend, who created her own major. It was demonstrated by my field hockey coaches, who always came up with new ways to use the rules in the game. It was in my history professors, who allowed me to pursue my passions within the framework of our course requirements. Looking back, it was invaluable to me because I like to look at things with a different perspective, and I think I gained that through a diverse liberal arts experience.
As a member of the Innovation Partnership team at UnderArmour, I support our open innovation platform. Part of my role is to execute Future Show, our annual innovation challenge, and I oversee our website, ideahouse.ua.com. I want to take ideas and put a new spin on them. Under Armour has a “never say never” philosophy. I’ve come across many entrepreneurs who have a lot of passion and enthusiasm, and that makes my job a lot of fun.
I seek out people who have just finished a prototype, or people who have just launched their product and gained some market traction and are looking for some brand power to help get their product all over the world.
I don’t ever want to miss a great idea or product. At Ursinus, it felt safe to take risks. That has given me a lot of confidence in the real world.
