Double Major: Politics, Media & Communication Studies
Forget about a seat on the 50-yard line. I’m reserving my spot now for a Super Bowl press box. It’s a journey I started this year as an extern with the Beasley Media Group, where I experienced life in the broadcast studio and behind the radio mic. I even got to shadow Ursinus alumni who work in the industry. I can’t tell you how often I heard “Go, Bears!” walking down the hall. My takeaway? Life is all about making connections and building relationships, and that’s what comes naturally at Ursinus. On campus and in the real world, we all smile and say hello to one another. It’s good people with good vibes!
During my externship, I got to see the corporate side, the sales side, and the broadcast side. I saw live radio interviews with celebrities, came to understand how business meetings are handled, and shared my own ideas during those meetings. All of that showed me how much I could actually do with my degree. I’m a double major in politics and media and communication studies, so to me, the possibilities are endless.
More than anything, it’s important to be yourself. When I was looking at colleges, this is the one school I visited where that mattered more than anything else. From my teammates to my professors—even the president—they’re all genuine. They’re all invested in you. If I could do it all over again, I wouldn’t change anything.
