Faces of Ursinus

Victor Tortorelli

Victor Tortorelli

New collaborative methods of teaching science. Cutting-edge research labs and student work spaces. These were part of the vision of a campaign known as “Science for a New Century,” which included improvements to Pfahler Hall two decades ago, shepherded by Victor Tortorelli, professor of chemistry. Today, the evolution continues in the form of the latest in multidisciplinary education and undergraduate student research at Ursinus—the new Innovation and Discovery Center. Once again, Tortorelli is just one of a handful of faculty, staff and students who have been critical in taking the IDC from concept to creation. Ground was broken for the IDC in October 2016. The steel beams are in place. And soon, it will foster creative thinking and innovative approaches to learning. Get ready, Tortorelli says, for some “high-tech problem solving.”
