Meredith Goldsmith earned her B.A., M.A., and Ph.D. at Columbia University. She studies early twentieth-century American literature and is the author of numerous articles in that field as well as the co-editor of three book collections. Meredith has served as both the president of the Edith Wharton Society and the editor of the Edith Wharton Review. At Ursinus, she founded the Teaching and Learning Institute and co-wrote the Mellon Faculty Career Enhancement grant. Her work has been supported by several grants including a Mellon Humanities Writ Large grant at Duke University, two grants from the Pennsylvania Consortium for the Liberal Arts and a grant from the Mellon Scholarly Communications Division.
