Having the opportunity to be vice president of STAT has really helped me to see just how close the Ursinus community is, and what it truly means to be a Bear for Life. I love meeting alumni and getting to hear how campus life has evolved throughout the years. I also love how close-knit the Ursinus community is to one another, even after graduation.
My favorite STAT event would be Celebration of Lights, which I created at Ursinus in fall of 2016 through the help of this organization. Celebration of Lights takes place in November, and it was created to show the traditions of the many diverse cultures of Ursinus students. Anyone is invited to tell a story, perform a song or dance, or share some memories with a goal to promote love for one another across campus before the holiday season kicks in. This year (2017) we are dedicated the event to Reverend Rice to honor his involvement in our first Celebration of Lights event last year. Many organizations were involved last year, including MSA, SASA, SAHC, Hillel, ALMA, B’Nats, and special guest speaker: Terrence Williams. I hope this event grows to be a tradition that students look forward to every year!
