Overview

The Department of Chemistry at Ursinus College invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position at the assistant professor level in organic chemistry. The successful candidate will join a dedicated team of faculty and staff in an ACS-certified department and will participate in the biochemistry and molecular biology program. The chemistry department is housed in Pfahler Hall and offers dedicated student research laboratories and instruments suitable for undergraduate research.

Responsibilities

We are seeking chemists who are committed to excellence in undergraduate education and research at a highly selective liberal arts college. Teaching responsibilities are six courses per year and will include the first and second semesters of organic chemistry, their associated laboratories, and other chemistry courses appropriate to the candidate’s expertise. The successful candidate will also teach the Common Intellectual Experience (CIE), an interdisciplinary freshman liberal studies seminar.  In addition, the candidate will be expected to establish an active research program in organic chemistry that engages undergraduate students, including the opportunity for supervision of honors theses.  The candidate will also provide academic advising to majors and first-year students and contribute to service to the college.

Requirements and Qualifications

Applicants must have a Ph.D. in organic chemistry.  Post-doctoral research experience is preferred.
