Hi! My name is Eva Moreta Martín and I’m the Spanish TA for this academic year (2019-2020) at Ursinus College. I come from a small but very beautiful and historic city in Spain called Salamanca, where I grew up and stayed until I finished high school. Then, in 2014, I moved to Madrid, the capital, to study at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid.
A fun fact is that I studied science in high school, but two months before applying for the university I realized that my passion was languages, so I decided to study Translation and Inter. I passed the admission exams and I got in. In my third year of university I was part of the Erasmus student exchange program–a great experience that helps you to open your mind and allowed me to study at the KU Leuven Universiteit in Brussels, Belgium. Then, in 2018, I graduated in Translation and Interpreting for English and French with specialization in interpreting, localization and subtitling.
Finally, last year I had the chance to work as a TA in a lycée in the town of Saint-Raphäel, located in the well-known Côte d’Azur in South France, very close to Saint-Tropez, Cannes and Nice. There, I worked hand in hand with a team of 6 lovely and caring teachers who helped me to learn a lot about this beautiful profession. And I spent a great year under the Mediterranean sun and exploring France.
Something about me: I love sports. I played basketball for a long time and I played two years of rugby in university. I love art; I went to drawing and painting lessons and I’m so sad to have stopped. And last but not least, I love travelling. I’ve been in quite a few European countries and I have to say that being in the United States feels like a dream!
