My name is Nobutaka Nakamura, a Japanese TA.
I was born and raised in Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan. Fukuoka is in the southern island of Kyushu, and its capital, Fukuoka-City, is the fifth largest city in Japan. Although Fukuoka-city is quite urban and modern like other major cities in Japan, it is surrounded by beautiful mountains and beaches where people can enjoy hiking and other outdoor activities.
I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Japanese literature and language from Fukuoka University in 2012. Then, I worked at the Fukuoka City Child Consultation Center as a social worker for 7 years, assisting to provide care and support to abused children and young delinquents at a temporary shelter there.
This is my first time teaching the Japanese language and culture overseas, and I am very excited about this new adventure in my life. It is very motivating and inspiring to meet many students at Ursinus who are passionate about learning my language and culture, and I very much look forward to learning about theirs and growing as a person and teacher with Ursinus students.
