Overview

The Assistant Content Marketing Manager, in tandem with the Enrollment, Marketing & Communications teams, will create compelling, brand driven content – across all platforms – which ensures the Ursinus student and academic experience is conveyed across all platforms in a compelling manner. Not only will this role be responsible for helping to generate general awareness of the College brand, but also executing effective strategies to manage the prospective student journey from inquiry to enrollment.

Position Scope:

  • Content Creation: Research, write, and deliver integrated content for distribution across all channels, including social media, email, web and print/digital publications. Assist in updating College webpages and creating content that is SEO friendly and accessible.
  • Recruitment Emails: Assist with segmenting, writing and executing a robust electronic communication plan through our CRM. Optimize e-communications through use of quality control platforms and html best practices.
  • Manage Projects: Coordinate with internal Marketing and Communications team and across campus to create content that supports the College brand. Duties include developing project briefs, coordinating timelines and ensuring projects are completed in a timely manner.
  • Special Events: Work on special projects as needed, including events on some nights and weekends, such as admission events, commencement ceremonies, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Develop engaging and compelling written content for a variety of audiences in support of marketing, communications and enrollment objectives.
  • Manage campaigns to deliver targeted communications to audiences using Technolutions Slate (CRM), including content creation, testing, automation and reporting.
  • Write and/or edit for a wide variety of formats, including news stories, people profiles, social posts, web content and email copy.
  • Leverage knowledge of marketing communications across all channels including print, web, social media, mobile, and video.
  • Assist with day-to-day monitoring of social media accounts, as well helping to manage the calendar, content and events. Interact and build relationships to help grow audience, influence, and engagement on the highest priority channels.
  • Facilitate conversations with current students, faculty and alumni for story ideas and interviews.
  • Participate in the planning and quality-assurance processes for student-contributed content.
  • Actively participate in developing creative, practical ideas and plans for long-range and short-range communications campaigns.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Preferred Skills and Competencies

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in journalism, communication, or marketing.
  • Minimum of three years of related experience, preferably in higher education.
  • Superb writing and editing skill, including the ability to modify voice, tone, style, and content for various purposes.
  • Understanding of the optimal uses of different types of content in the service of different goals and audiences.
  • An enthusiastic sense of creativity, fun, and humor, balanced by a disciplined commitment to planning, tracking, and learning.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects in a busy environment with attention to detail.
  • Experience creating content that is suitable for a social audience; excellent grasp on current popular culture and the College student demographic
  • Proficiency in SEO focused content, Google Analytics and a knowledge of social media management apps/software.
  • Basic skills in photography.
  • Proficiency in project management best practices and tools.
  • Hard working, a team player, willing to “roll up your sleeves” and comfortable stepping outside of your comfort zone.
  • Ability to work occasional nonstandard business hours, including evenings and weekends, when warranted by college events or issues.
  • Experience working in higher-education public relations, enrollment, or advancement is a plus.
