Externship Location: Bucks County District Attorney’s Office, Doylestown, PA
Major
My Experience
Over winter break, Allyson externed with Bucks County District Attorney Matt Weintraub ’90 during the Commonwealth’s trial week. “I was shocked to hear the amount of cases and trials that the lawyers took care of every day,” Allyson says. Her time with Matt Weintraub allowed her to see just how much work goes into an average day in a local courtroom setting.
Academic Connection
Allyson states that, “Since I am undecided in my major, I wanted to use experiences like this to help me find a light bulb or an interest in something I didn’t know I had.” After having externed at the Bucks County District Attorney’s Office, she is now considering a possible pre-law focus during her future time here at Ursinus.
Reflection
Looking back at her experience, Allyson has only good things to say about her winter externship. “I met a ton of people every single day that worked in all different departments. They were all more than willing to answer any questions that we had,” Allyson adds. Her advice to students who are thinking about pursuing an externship in the future? “Definitely do it. It is a great experience to be able to get your foot in the door in a certain field and learn if you like or dislike certain occupations.”
