Movement of Neurotransmitter Ions Through Single Walled Carbon Nanotubes (SWNTs)

Project Description

A voltage applied to solutions of neurotransmitters cause the movement of positively charged ions through the interior of single walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs). Analysis of pore-blocking events provides insight into the unique mechanisms of fluid transport through SWNTs. We are currently interested in the relationship between hydrogen ion concentration and ionic mobility - how easily ions move through the nanopore.
