Over the summer, Tyree secured an internship with St. Ignatius Loyola Academy in Baltimore, Maryland. An alum in the class of 2014, Tyree jumped on the opportunity to go back to his former school. After some talks with the graduate support advisor, Tyree was locked in for the position. The main focus of this position had Tyree working as a teachers assistant, and in some classes teaching the class on his own.
Tyree credits his success throughout the internship to the various ways in which he’s been instructed while at Ursinus. “By forming study groups at Ursinus, I’ve become comfortable with teaching information to my peers, so I was excited to be able to do the same for children at the school,” Tyree said.
“Teamwork was the most essential piece of my internship. By working with staff members at the school and giving some of my own feedback, we were able to create lesson plans very efficiently” Tyree stated. By working at this institution, Tyree believes he can now contribute to larger communities as well as his workplace in the future.
Tyree has known for some time that he’s passionate about working with children. Originally looking to become a guidance counselor, Tyree is now intrigued by the possibility of becoming a schoolteacher. While working with children may sometimes be difficult, Tyree said that “It was very fun to be able to teach the kids and better prepare them for the future”.
Tyree’s favorite ice cream flavor is cookies & cream. His favorite song is Last Resort by Papa Roach and Jeris Johnson, and he loves to spend time with his friends!
