Overview

The Regional Recruiter for the Southeast Region plays a key leadership role in meeting the enrollment goals of Ursinus College, as well as maintaining the academic profile and fiscal health of the college. The Regional Recruiter is expected to manage a recruitment territory from inquiry through enrollment and will assist the Director of Admission in the development and execution of a recruitment strategy specific to this unique population of students. Utilizing best practices, sound professional judgment, and strategy development, the Regional Recruiter will lead all recruitment efforts using a highly efficient, team-based enrollment model and will fully invest in meeting the established Southeast Region enrollment goals of Ursinus College. As an experienced member of the admission staff, the Regional Recruiter supports strategically implementing a highly efficient, team-based enrollment management model.

This position requires working independently from a remote office location while also functioning as part of the larger Ursinus Admission team. Needs to be a role model of exemplary admission practices, including the ability and willingness to exhibit a strong work ethic and fully invest in meeting the established enrollment goals of the college.

Responsibilities

  • In consultation with the Director of Admission, develops and implements a comprehensive enrollment model with strategies to recruit and enroll students in the Southeast Region
  • Responsible for recruitment activities within a designated geographic territory. This is conducted through a variety of methods including visiting high schools, attending college fairs, conducing admission presentations and managing recruitment correspondence via CRM, phone calls, emails and meeting with individual students to answer questions related to admission and enrollment at Ursinus College
  • Maintains personal contact with prospective students and their parents, high school counselors, teachers and other influencers of prospective students in the Southeast Region from inquiry through enrollment. Respond to inquiries regarding applications, admission policies and procedures, financial aid availability and program offerings at Ursinus College through prompt response to phone calls, text messages and email inquires
  • Plans and coordinate events in the Southeast Region with applicants, accepted students, their families and high school guidance counselors
  • Responsible for significant brand awareness and metric enhancement in the Southeast Region including establishing a comprehensive and well-maintained database of contact information for regional college counselors and independent counselors
  • Acts as full team member of the admission staff with on-campus presence at key events including and not limited to Admitted Students Day, Specialty Scholarship Day, and counselor symposium. Supports other on-campus and virtual admission events including open houses, trainings, Saturday hours, academic interest days and counselor happy hours
  • Participate as fully engaged member of the admission team in weekly staff meetings, 1:1 meetings with Director of Admission and other office and division meetings
  • Actively support the College’s overall recruitment efforts for incoming students
  • Build and maintain pipeline of students from regional territory, build positive brand recognition and enhance Ursinus’ s brand recognition and recruitment efforts
  • Exercise professional judgment, follow established guidelines and expectations, and consult with senior staff members when necessary in reviewing applications and recommending applicants for admission
  • Work collaboratively with divisional partners including Director of Enrollment Marketing, Director of Student Financial Services, Director of Enrollment Operations, Director of Enrollment Research and Analytics, as well as other campus offices, to provide information necessary for conversion and yield of prospective students
  • Use of data informed strategies and analytics to drive day to day recruitment strategy and decision making
  • Report to Director of Admission on territory updates and growth
  • Extensive travel within the assigned recruitment territory, in new growth markets and in other areas as needed which includes: school visits, college fairs, specialty recruitment tours, and attendance at special programs hosted by Community-Based Organizations
  • Extremely frequent evening and weekend work required

Requirements and Qualifications

A proactive and nimble approach to evolving environments in admission and higher education trends is needed for successful outcomes. In addition, the Regional Recruiter should possess the following qualities:

  • Bachelor’s Degree, with 3+ years of progressively responsible admission experience preferably at a regionally accredited, liberal arts institution. Alternatively, 3+ years’ experience within a high school counselling office or working as an independent counselor would be considered
  • An in-depth knowledge of, and passion for, 21st century, liberal arts education
  • The character to embody the mission of the institution as a College That Changes Lives, both personally and professionally
  • The cultural competency needed to honorably and prominently promote diversity in all its forms
  • A high proficiency in multi-tasking as well as strategic thinking
  • Exemplary communication skills and a collaborative, transparent approach to problem-solving
  • A desire to join and foster a dynamic, transformative campus culture
  • Must reside in a prime location within the Southeast region territory
  • A valid driver’s license
  • Experience with data and reporting, and a desire to provide enrollment research support
  • In-depth knowledge of Slate CRM and Colleague SIS preferred
  • Ability and willingness to work night and weekend hours as needed

Preferred Skills and Competencies

  • Master’s Degree and/or 5+ years of admission experience at a regionally accredited, liberal arts institution
  • Experience with data and reporting, and a desire to provide enrollment research support
  • In-depth knowledge of Slate CRM
