Cathy has over 45 years’ experience in communications and marketing. She has held executive level and management positions both in the U.S. and internationally with four pharmaceutical companies: AstraZeneca, Astra/Astra Merck, Merck, and CIBA-Geigy (now Novartis). From 2007 to 2020, Cathy headed up Kernen Communications LLC, her own pharmaceutical marketing and PR agency.

Cathy is a 29-year Collegeville Borough resident. She previously served four terms as a Councilwoman: in 2004-2005, 1998-2000, and 2013-2016, and 2017 to the present. She currently acts as the Council President and heads up the Borough Business Development Committee and the Personnel Committee.

For the last five years she has been a member of the Advisory Board of the Berman Museum of Art at Ursinus College, and since 2009 has also been the President of the non-profit Collegeville Economic Development Corporation (CEDC). This all-volunteer organization works to promote local businesses and has organized numerous Collegeville family-friendly events, including a “Dinner & A Show” promotion with the Ursinus Theater Department and local restaurants, the Collegeville-Trappe Memorial Day Parade, “Movies on the Lawn,” Collegeville’s Colossal Yard Sale, the Collegeville Tree Lighting, Visit from Santa and more. In 2014 Cathy was honored as “Citizen of the Year” by the Collegeville Rotary for her extensive volunteer work in the community.
