José worked at Shippensburg University as the assistant director of the annual fund, managing their phonathon program and direct mail efforts. After nearly six years at Shippensburg, he joined the independent school world via Mercersburg Academy as their assistant director of annual giving. In that role, he managed their class agent program and digital efforts. Five years in the independent school world opened the doors to join Swarthmore College as their associate director of athletics advancement, where he focused on creating a fundraising effort from nearly the ground up while also managing a leadership group of volunteers driven to advance the athletic department.
