Annual Student Exhibition 2024
Height Marks on the Door Frame
What should matter to me? How should we live together? How can we understand the world? What will I do? These questions, built into the core curriculum at Ursinus College, are questions we ask ourselves as we consider our place and purpose in the world. Asking questions is critical to our personal growth and is fundamental in the artistic process.
Over the course of their academic careers, these student artists have asked important questions that have guided their personal and artistic development. They have reflected on the meanings, processes, and impressions of their work, among other considerations. Their processes, at times introspective and others collaborative, have opened them to new ways of thinking. The artists have challenged themselves to work outside their comfort zones and take risks, which has led to a fresh mix of concepts and forms.
The works in this exhibition are interdisciplinary and represent an amalgamation of practices, including painting, mixed media, ceramics, fiber, printmaking, and digital images. Through these mediums, students have contemplated notions of time, identity, emotions, the environment, and the pressures of day-to-day life. This exhibition and catalog mark an important stage of each student’s academic and artistic career, commemorating their creative resolve, thoughtfulness, and authenticity.
We congratulate all our 2024 participating student artists.
