Joyce Lionarons

I’m fascinated by language and languages – this drew me first to Tolkien and his created languages when I was in middle school and high school, then to Latin, Old and Middle English, Middle High German, Old Norse and more in college and graduate school. I’m also fascinated by monsters – my Ph.D. dissertation and first book were on dragons, and I’m a member of an organization dedicated to the study of monsters in medieval literature and art.
