2018 Benefits Information

The evolution of healthcare in the United States has brought substantially increasing costs each year and continues to create a challenge for Ursinus each renewal season. After a full review to determine the best and most cost-effective programs, Ursinus is retaining United Healthcare as its health insurance carrier in 2018.

In order to stay the course with the current plans, the college accepted an overall increase to our current premiums of 10.5 percent. The college will continue to cover 92 percent of the employee-only rate for the high deductible plan; 72 percent of the employee-plus-one-dependent rate; and 66 percent of the family rate.

Employees will see an increase in cost of about $3 per month for single coverage; $21 per month for employee-plus-one coverage; and $37 dollars per month for family coverage.

Since the carriers remain the same, Ursinus is allowing for passive open enrollment this year, meaning those who do not want to make any changes to benefit choices for 2018 will not be required to log onto the system and complete the open enrollment process. If you do not log into the system, your enrollment will default to your current choices for 2018.  However, you will need to log into the system if you wish to contribute to your Health Savings Account (HSA) or a Flexible Spending Account (FSA) for health care or dependent care.  Please keep in mind that benefits are an important part of your total compensation package, so it is recommended that you log in to review and confirm your choices, beneficiaries.
