Below is some information that may help with your computer purchasing decision. There are also options at the link below to purchase a laptop from one of the vendors we’ve made arrangements with.
Accessing Software Remotely
Using Apporto you can run certain software in a virtual Windows environment without having to download any applications to your computer.
Accessing/Mapping the Ursinus shared drives, (the “S” drive).
Mapping a drive means that you want permanent access to a folder that is currently residing on another computer, server, or network storage device. Windows will assign a new drive letter to the folder and it can be accessed just like any other drive connected to your computer. Mac will add a link/icon for the drive.
After following the above link, enter your Ursinus username and password to sign in to Okta, the college’s single sign-on system. Logging into Okta gives you access to the applications and web pages you use most.

Full personal installation of Microsoft Office is available free of charge to students, faculty, and staff via web install.
*Microsoft Office is provided free of charge as part of our campus agreement. So, regardless of the computer you purchase (Windows or Mac) or where you purchase it, you do not need to purchase Microsoft Office. Simply install it for free using the link above.
Office 365 provides access to a variety of Microsoft applications in addition to the standard Microsoft Office suite.
Most of the Office 365 applications can be downloaded to your device or accessed online.
Available via your Ursinus username and password.
