It is good to learn the public transportation systems in Pennsylvania if you need to get to the airport to go home for breaks, or if you would like to participate in any recreational travel during your time at Ursinus.
Amtrak, SEPTA, and Greyhound are very reliable means of ground transportation in Pennsylvania and the United States. The websites always have the most updated information about schedules, and provide the best prices. You can look at their websites for more information, and to become familiar with their departure and arrival locations.
Philadelphia is only a bus and train ride away, and from Center City, you have the opportunity to take other means of transportation to other parts of the country. SEPTA is the primary mode of public transportation in Pennsylvania, and there is a SEPTA bus stop on Main Street (right outside of the Ursinus College gate) that will take you to the Norristown Transportation Center. From NTC, you will be able to take the R6 train into Center City. During Orientation, you will have the option to travel to Philadelphia with the International Student Ambassadors to learn the SEPTA transportation system.
If you are traveling home for longer breaks with a good amount of luggage and want to avoid public transportation, there is the option to take a shuttle service. Tropiano Transportation provides a car service to and from the Marriott Courtyard Hotel in Collegeville. We can drop off/pick up students at the hotel in order to take the shuttle. It is $34.00 one way and $64.00 round trip. You must call the service at least 24 hours in advance to reserve a spot, and they only run on the hour. You can reach the shuttle service ata 1-800-559-2040 or 215-616-5370.
