Winter Break Information
The residence halls close for Winter Break Saturday, December 17, 2022, until Tuesday, January 17, 2023. The residence halls reopen on Tuesday, January 17, 2023 at 10AM.
The residence halls close for Winter Break Saturday, December 17, 2022, until Tuesday, January 17, 2023. Students must to vacate campus housing 24 hours after their last final exam or by 5PM on December 17, whichever comes first. Students who are unable to arrange transportation to leave campus by 5PM can wait with their belongings in the Wismer Lower Lounge until 8PM.
Mandatory 24 hour Quiet Hours begin at 12:01AM on Saturday, December 10, 2022, through Saturday, December 17.
Before leaving campus, students are required to do the following:
- Close and lock all windows and draw shades.
- Unplug electrical equipment
- Refrigerators can remain plugged in but MUST be removed of all perishables
- Clean common area kitchens and remove perishables from refrigerators
- Remove clothes from laundry room – any clothes left will be donated (12/19)
- Turn out all lights and lock all doors
- Remove all holiday decorations from the house and/or hallways. This includes the exterior of buildings.
Residence Life Student Staff members will be entering rooms after students leave to make sure these tasks are complete.
During Finals week, Campus Safety will be offering a free shuttle service to the Paoli Train Station from December 12 through December 16. Interested students must complete the brief survey no later than 4pm on Thursday, 12/8/2022.
For your reference, here are some facts about the Paoli Train Station, located on 13 Lancaster Ave, Paoli, PA 19301:
- Just 30 minutes from Ursinus College
- Offers both Amtrak and SEPTA lines
- Offers a direct train ride to 30th Street Station in Philadelphia, PA
- 30th Street Station offers a direct train ride to Philadelphia International Airport

Students who do not leave the residence halls within 24 hours of their last final or 5 PM on Saturday, December 17 (whichever comes first) and/or students who fail to check-out properly with an RA are subject to disciplinary action. Additionally, any student found on campus without permission after the halls close will be required to leave campus immediately. Proper check out will be explained to you at your upcoming hall/house meeting.
The residence halls reopen on Tuesday, January 17, 2023 at 10AM. Spring semester classes begin Wednesday, January 18, 2023. Over break, halls will not be open to procure personal belongings. The College is not responsible for personal possessions. Items of value should be taken home.
Wismer Cafeteria will have regular hours on Friday, December 16. They will be open from 7:30-1PM on Saturday, December 17, 2022. Wismer will reopen from noon-7PM on Tuesday, January 17, 2023 from 12PM-7PM and reopens Wednesday for regular hours. View the complete schedule for break here.
Housing over the Winter Break will only be provided for International students, and those affiliated with approved College-sponsored programs. In order to stay on campus, a student must receive permission from the Residence Life Office by 5PM on Monday, December 12, 2022. Members of athletic teams who will be on campus over the break do not need to apply for permission; the Athletic Department will make those arrangements.
