The Pennsylvania Basic Ed/Higher Ed Science and Technology Partnerships began at Juniata College fifteen years ago when a group of secondary science teachers met with Juniata faculty to form a partnership. As the relationship grew, Juniata faculty became aware of the school teachers’ many needs. Many of these needs were not being met, and this severely limited the teachers’ ability to present the kind of science program they wanted for their students.
Juniata faculty members ultimately realized that higher education institutions and their faculty members were uniquely positioned to provide what was needed. As the teachers and faculty members worked to address these needs, the shape of the current partnerships emerged.
