This is the first electric car charging station on campus! While we are talking about electric, all lights inside the building are LED (Light-Emitting Diode). LED lights last longer and use fewer watts than traditional lights.

The Ursinus Community loves these hydration stations, which are located in various buildings on campus. The Schellhase Commons has one too!

These chairs, which were manufactured by Loll Trade, are made out of reclaimed plastic milk jugs! They are also a product that is Cradle-to-Cradle Certified. This certification assesses a product on five categories including carbon footprint, social fairness, waste reduction, and others in order to promote a more circular and sustainable economy. While outdoors, be sure to take note of the perennial grasses and plantings. These plantings use less water than annual plants that need to be replanted each year.

Permeable Pavers at the entrance of the building allows stormwater to soak into the ground. This means less pollution is washed into the local Perkiomen Creek during rain events. Also, although not pictured, the concrete pavers on the entryway are also permeable!
