Medical Services

 

The Wellness Center is open Monday through Friday from 9:00am to 5:00pm, while classes are in session. Services are by appointment only.

List of Medical Services

Ursinus students have access to unlimited visits with our providers for treatment and management of acute and chronic conditions. The following medical services can be provided to students by the Wellness Center. An asterisk indicates that an additional charge may apply, or a referral to another facility may be necessary.

  • Unlimited consultations with healthcare providers
  • First aid (see below)
  • Acute care for injury or illness
  • Asthma management
  • Minor emergencies including suturing, incision/drainage, and splinting
  • Skin infections
  • Allergy injections (allergy injection policy)*
  • Routine physical exams* (see below)
  • Gynecological care
  • FREE condoms (available in waiting area)
  • Blood pressure screening
  • Prescriptions* (access to some medications on site)
  • Medical equipment rentals (see below)
  • Flu shots*
  • Immunizations*
  • Laboratory tests*
  • X-ray and EKG Services*
  • STD/STI testing and counseling* (see below)
  • Plan B* emergency contraception, counseling for various birth control methods
  • Prep HIV prevention medication* (requires additional testing and specific procedures)

Physicals

Driver’s license, driver’s permit, travel abroad and work related physical exams are done at the Wellness Center at no cost to the student. Call or email the Wellness Center to make an appointment. Please note: Pre-surgical clearances/physicals are not offered.

Medical equipment rentals

Crutches, wheelchairs, and nebulizer machines are available for loan to students. Students are responsible for returning these items back to the Wellness Center and may incur a charge for damaged or missing equipment.

First aid

Gauze dressings, tape, band aids, ace wraps, cold and heat packs, burn gel as well as antibiotic ointment are available on site.

Medications

A supply of antibiotics, anti-inflammatories, anti-histamines, decongestants, cough syrups, anti-nausea and anti-diarrheal medicines are available on site for students. Prescriptions are given to students for all other needs.  Prescriptions can be filled at CVS in Collegeville (walking distance from campus) or any other local pharmacy.

Vaccines

The following immunizations are available onsite:

Fluarix Quadravalent $20.00

Tetanus (Tdap) $40.00

Tuberculin (TB) $20.00

STD/STI testing

Confidential STD/STI testing is available at the Wellness Center Monday through Friday by appointment.  Test specimens are sent to participating Quest and LabCorp laboratories.  Cost of testing will be billed through the student’s insurance by these labs, which may result in additional fees.  It is the responsibility of the student to verify if STD/STI testing is covered by their insurance plan prior to receiving testing.

Confidential STD/STI testing is also offered through Medical Diagnostic Laboratories which allows students to pay directly without using their personal health insurance.

A 6-panel screening test is offered for a fee of $80 (cash/check only), which includes: Chlamydia, Gonorrhea, Ureaplasma urealyticum, Mycoplasma genitalium, Mycoplasma hominis, and Trichomonas

A 2-panel screening test is offered for a fee of $20 (cash/check only), which includes: Chlamydia and Gonorrhea

Additional STD/STI testing is available for HPV, Hepatitis B, Syphilis, HSV 1 and 2 (Herpes) and HIV/AIDS, but testing must be billed through the student’s health insurance.
