2020 Convocation Ceremony
August 19, 2020
9 a.m.
Convocation is the formal opening of the academic year for first-year students. We welcome our first year students, faculty and staff to view our Convocation video beginning at 9am on Wednesday, August 19th at 9 a.m.
Be brave and think beyond what you have been told, or have long assumed, to be true. Be willing to change your mind – and then get ready to change the world. -
-Professor Susanna Throop
The Gauntlet
Traditionally, following the ceremony, faculty, staff and students line up in a “gauntlet” outside of Bomberger Hall to welcome and cheer on the newest class of Bears. The same type of formation takes place four years later as the class exits commencement and passes through a gauntlet formed by faculty. This year we decided to share our exuberance on your arrival to campus virtually!
You will remember this fall, you will tell stories of this fall, you will be changed by this fall, in ways that will be far more significant than the sacrifices we will have to make to get there.
