At my October inauguration, I asked you to “Think Big” … and did you ever!
It was a significant year in terms of academic accomplishment and student initiative. Together, we took major steps to move the college forward. Faculty, staff, students, parents, alumni and friends all found ways to contribute in very meaningful ways.
Campus conversations sparked passion and provided perspective. Faculty approved a new core curriculum based on four profound questions. Plans for the Innovation and Discovery Center, an exciting space that will connect Pfahler and Thomas halls, were solidified. The Philadelphia Experience came to fruition for 15 students.
All of this is a manifestation of something greater happening in Collegeville and on our campus. Ursinus is embarking on one of the most ambitious periods in its proud history. We have launched Ursinus 150, a comprehensive approach to defining our future built upon a new strategic plan. Building on the three pillars, Living Together, Learning, and Building Lifelong Connections, we are positioning the college to be the “First Choice” institution for students, faculty and staff, and the first choice for philanthropy.
More than ever last year, students were active participants in and co-creators of their educational experience. The Class of 2016 graduated as critical thinkers and principled leaders ready to live lives of purpose and meaning.
I am honored to be your president.
