Help us strengthen “Team Ursinus” for the future by supporting crucial athletics facilities upgrades.
Why Your Support Matters
Investing in athletics is an investment in the future of our students. Modern and well-equipped athletic facilities enhance the overall competitiveness and reputation of the college’s sports programs, while also providing ideal spaces for students to experience wellbeing and personal growth. This is where we all come together as “Team Ursinus” to support our Bears.
Key Projects and Facility Upgrades
Patterson Field is used by over half of our student-athletes who participate on seven of our varsity sports teams, including including football, men’s and women’s soccer, men’s and women’s lacrosse, and men’s and women’s outdoor track & field.
During 2023-24, the following projects are planned:
A complete replacement of the artificial turf on Patterson Field
Resurfacing of the track that surrounds the field and lower field track runways.
An upgraded sound system.
New fencing, logos, and UC Bears branding.
Installation of a new state-of-the-art scoreboard with video capabilities
Several naming opportunities are available, including for the scoreboard, which carries prominent college-wide visibility.

The Floy Lewis Bakes Center (FLB) is Ursinus’s hub for athletics and health and wellness offerings. FLB boasts a fitness center, field house and indoor track, the Helfferich Gymnasium, the Racich Wrestling Room, Elliott Pool, our Hall of Fame for Athletics, Coaches’ Row (office spaces), locker rooms, a sports medicine clinic, and other vital spaces for sports, health, and physical wellness.
FLB is evolving to continually meet the needs of all our students, employees, alumni, and community members. As we create an ideal space for Team Ursinus to come together, several key updates for FLB include:
New equipment within our fitness center. (Fully-funded and completed in 2023!)
A re-tiling of and general enhancements to Elliott Pool and pool deck.
Resurfacing and redesign of the field house floor, branding, and upgraded equipment. New bleachers and partition door within Helfferich Gymnasium.
An upgraded space for the Ursinus College Hall of Fame for Athletes (Celebrating its 50th Anniversary!)
UC Bears branding in the lobby, hallways, and other building spaces.
Philanthropic investments and corporate sponsorships are essential to our success. Naming opportunities are available.

The Ursinus College campus boasts eight tennis courts that host practice and competition for our men’s and women’s tennis teams. They are also available to the broader community when not in use by UC athletics. While our courts are certainly an asset, they also were in need of resurfacing and repainting. In 2023, we made those upgrades and added twelve pickleball courts as well, bringing America’s fastest growing sport to campus for our college and local community.

Wilkes Field currently serves as a supplementary practice space for several teams who play their games on Patterson Field. However, because of its natural grass surface, Wilkes has a tendency to quickly degrade. This leads to varsity teams vying for time on Patterson, pushing practice slots late into the night and negatively impacting student-athlete and staff well-being.
Installing a synthetic turf surface and lights on Wilkes Field will make it suitable for our varsity teams’ needs, helping to alleviate some of the stress caused by the Patterson schedule and supporting the overall wellness of affected individuals. In addition, synthetic turf would allow Wilkes Field to provide activity space for club teams and intramural programs.

Our alumni, parents, and visitors love to cheer on our Bears! The college’s vision is to provide a dedicated space for bringing together spectators in a way that fully supports the fan experience. A new outdoor pavilion will create a place where event attendees can congregate, socialize, and have food and beverage both before and after the games. It will also be used for alumni to meet and celebrate and for parents to gather around competitions.
