How do we solve the problem of transportation to Philadelphia? Live there.
And so this past fall, 15 students were part of a pilot program in which they lived in Philadelphia, did an internship and took up to three classes with Ursinus faculty, and classes at Drexel University, where they live. All students took the basic Philadelphia 101.
COURSES: Memoir Writing; Race and Ethnicity in Philadelphia; Introduction to Theater; Documenting Photography, Documenting Philadelphia; Introduction to Museum Studies.
“What makes the Philadelphia Experience truly unique is that we’re taking coursework out of the traditional classroom and turning the city itself into a living classroom in which students will draw upon the experience of its people and the historic context of its places to create an immersive and dynamic learning experience.”
-Kelly Sorensen, interim associate dean at Ursinus College
